Cape Christian Church is a large contemporary congregation in a city that was ranked as having one of the nation’s highest foreclosure and unemployment rates during the recession. This reality prompted the church to shift its focus from building a $15 million worship auditorium to building a five-acre park for the community at large. After assessing how the loss of jobs and homes were impacting families, Cape Christian commissioned Knäak Design Group to design “Fellowship Park.”
Open to the public, Fellowship Park includes the city’s first amphitheater, a water park, three children’s playgrounds, sports and multipurpose fields, common areas, jogging trails, a state of the art restaurant and café along with several outdoor eating and party pavilions.
The project has gained national and local coverage. KDG is proud to be a part of this ambitious project while helping to serve the community and ultimately making a difference.
